Straight Outta Compton will also be available as a digital download starting on January 5th. Many critics ( including us) noted how it felt as though scenes were dropped as new characters were introduced. However, one can predict that a great deal of the footage will fill out the latter half of the film. Aside from the “20 additional minutes,” not much else was detailed of Straight Outta Compton: Unrated Director’s Cut. There will be two versions, a standard edition and one that includes both the theatrical and director’s cut of the film. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment revealed via press release that Straight Outta Compton will be available on DVD and Blu-ray starting January 19th. For those of you looking forward to watching even more of this film, Universal confirmed that an unrated director’s cut will be available when the film comes home on DVD and Blu-ray.
In that sense, it’s a shock he was able to fit everything within the span of 2 hours, 27 minutes, especially when Gray told Collider earlier this year that he shot more than three hours of material.
